Betlémské Rocks

A sandstone massif lying by north-east direction from Turnov. The area of the Klokočské rocks is smoothly connected with Betlémské rocks and the ridge continues to the ruins of Rotštejn medieval rocky castle. Massive rock blocks with only separated towers (the well-known include Radnice (Town hall), Džbán ( the Jug) and Růženčina skála (Růženka rock)) show the manner of rock depositing on the bottom of the chalk sea. What is noticeable from the geological point of view is the concentration of allmost all geomorphologic shapes known in sandstones into the area of approximately 3 square kilometers. The local pseudo-carst cave Postojna gave shelter to the first hunters in the upper Jizera region.
